About us

NTUS Lab is part of HM CINAC, a reference center in focused ultrasound for movement disorders since 2018: first subthalamotomy trial in Parkinson's disease (NEJM, Lancet Neurology), close to 500 thalamotomies for essential tremor and pioneering work on blood-brain barrier opening. We are now extending this work to low-intensity, reversible ultrasound neuromodulation.

The project

You will join two ongoing projects on low-intensity transcranial focused ultrasound in Parkinson's disease, one with the MR-guided Exablate Neuro system (Insightec) and one with the neuronavigated NeuroFUS system (Brainbox). Both share a common validation framework based on EEG, TMS and behavior.

What you will do

  • Prepare and run experimental sessions with patients and healthy volunteers, including sham protocols
  • Acquire TMS motor evoked potentials, EEG, EMG and accelerometry, and run behavioral tasks
  • Process and analyze signals (MEP extraction, spectral analysis) in Python and MATLAB
  • Support acoustic planning and dosimetry: hydrophone calibration, k-Wave simulations and skull models from MRI
  • Keep data organized, traceable and of high quality across both projects
  • Take part in lab meetings, journal clubs and scientific communications

What we offer

  • 2-year full-time contract, gross salary approx. 27,500 € per year
  • A structured training plan with close supervision and growing autonomy
  • State-of-the-art equipment: Exablate Neuro, NeuroFUS with Brainsight neuronavigation, Magstim TMS, EEG, 3T PET-MR, GPU servers
  • A multidisciplinary team of engineers, physicists, neurologists, neurophysiologists and neurosurgeons
  • A strong springboard toward a PhD or a career in neurotechnology

Eligibility requirements (mandatory)

  • University degree (Bachelor/Grado, Licenciatura or Engineering) completed by the contract start date
  • Under 30 years old on the contract start date
  • Unemployed until the day before the contract starts
  • No employment relationship with HM Hospitales as of 26 June 2026
  • Non-EU degrees must already have the official Spanish homologation or equivalence (applications in progress are not valid). Degrees from EU universities do not need it.

Preferred profile

  • Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Telecommunications, Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology or a related field
  • Programming in Python and/or MATLAB
  • Experience or strong interest in EEG, TMS, signal processing or neuroimaging
  • Good Spanish (daily work with patients) and good English
  • Rigor, organization and comfort working with patients
